Namibia - land of contrasts. We warmly welcome you to Sophienhof, our small Safari Lodge, near the famous Etosha National Park. Here you really can relax, experience the wide Mopane savannah and watch wild animals.

Explore the wilderness and embark on a journey of discovery - by jeep, in hiking boots or by mountain bike. Surrounded by 9000ha of species-rich flora and fauna, you will experience a dream holiday in Africa on our farm : adventurous nature stalking, inviting accommodations and tasty farm dishes. Relax in the pool, at the bar or around the campfire.

Activities

  • Safari / Game Drive with Ostrich Feeding
    500 NAD p.p.
    • Hop aboard and enjoy a scenic ride with the chance to spot various wildlife. A special stop along the way also gives our guests the opportunity to feed our ostriches.
    • The safari usually starts at 4:30 pm in summer or 3:30 pm in winter and lasts approximately 2 hours.
  • Rhino Safari
    800 NAD p.p.
    • For guests who truly want to see rhinos, this is the more focused version of our safari experience. The guide concentrates on tracking down rhinos and continues the search until you have had the opportunity to witness these magnificent animals.
    • The safari starts either in the morning or in the afternoon; the exact start time can be confirmed at reception. The duration varies, but is at least 2 hours or longer.
  • Farm & Citrus Garden Tour
    500 NAD p.p.
    • This guided tour offers you the opportunity to explore different areas of Sophienhof and observe a variety of wildlife along the way. A great choice if you're looking for a peaceful and informative experience.
    • The tour starts either in the morning or in the afternoon; the exact start time can be confirmed at reception. The tour lasts approximately 2 hours.
  • Sunset Drive to the Ugab - Terraces

  • Guided Bicycle Tour

Free time activities near Sophienhof Lodge

Observe and photograph game / birding

Let yourself be fascinated by the impressive wildlife of Namibia: Observe cheetahs, zebra, blue and black wildebeests, giraffes, many species of antelopes (oryx, kudu, eland, dik-dik, duiker…), warthog, porcupine, tortoises and birds in their natural environment.

Archery

Another option to pass your time at Sophienhof Lodge is archery. With this form of sport you can relax and improve your concentration at the same time.

Swimming pool

Take time out and relax on the swimming pool. Our team will attempt to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

Locations Near Sophienhof   (Self-Drive)

Etosha

The best way to reach Etosha National Park is the Anderson Gate, which is situated 100 km from Sophienhof Lodge. If you set off early, you'll have all day to look around. The variety of animals is very impressive. 

Vingerklip

A short self-drive to Vingerklip is perfect to enjoy the wonderful panoramic view over the Ugab Terraces. Take a look at the monumental pillar of rock, which consists of more than 300 million years old chalkstone. If you wish to, you may have lunch at Ugab Terrace Lodge.

Ugab Terraces

A self-drive from Sophienhof Lodge to the gorgeous Ugab Terraces at the other end of the farm takes only about 20 minutes. Enjoy the breathtaking view over the whole valley.

Otjiwarongo Crocodile Farm

If you want to watch all kinds of crocodiles and take photos of them, you should visit the crocodile farm in Otjiwarongo (distance to Sophienhof: 90 km). There you can learn everything about these primeval lizards and the breeding methods.

Here at Sophienhof Lodge, we offer a variety of accommodation options to suit every taste.

Our four bungalows, split into two units each, provide spacious double or triple rooms with private bathrooms and mosquito netting. They’re a short walk from the Lapa, where you’ll also find our restaurant and reception.

For those seeking something special, the VIP House offers a quiet, elevated stay. With room for up to four adults and two children, it features breathtaking views of the Paresis Mountains and a private infinity pool. A tranquil escape—ideal for slow mornings.

Campers are always welcome on our unique grassy campsites—perfect for setting up under the open sky while backpackers, who prefer a bit more comfort, can settle into one of our shared rooms—practical and welcoming, with enough space to rest and recharge before the next leg of the journey.

For groups or guests looking for extra privacy, the nearby Belina Farmhouse offers a quiet, self-contained retreat. (About 2km from the lodge)
